Ubisoft hasn’t announced Far Cry 6 yet, it doesn’t have a public release date, but it might be revealed very soon. From the latest leak from German site GameReactor emerged on June 7, 2020, it looks like the new Far Cry will be revealed during their own digital event Ubisoft Forward on July 12.
“With physical gaming shows around the world postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ubisoft will be hosting its first digital conference, called Ubisoft Forward, on July 12 at 12PM PDT/9PM CEST. Get ready for an E3-style showcase with plenty of exclusive game news, exciting reveals, and much more.” according to Ubisoft.
According to German website Gamereactor, Far Cry 6 will please those that didn’t like Far Cry 5’s US setting, implying it will not be set in North America. Previous entries have been set in Central Africa, the Himalayas, and an island paradise in the Pacific Ocean and it’s implied the new game will follow more in that tradition.
The prior rumour was a hint from voice actor Michael Mando that his character Vaas, from Far Cry 3, would be making a return ‘very soon’. That indicates somekind of prequel which would be nice because Far Cry 3 was probably the best in the series and exotic location is in some way a simbol to the Far Cry franchise.
In an interview for the Collider portal, actor Giancarlo Esposito talked about his roles in the series Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and Mandalorian, but also about his engagement in one video game. Esposito claims to have worked on a game with brand new technology that will be huge, but at the moment he can’t talk about it because it hasn’t been announced yet. According to some portals, the game is allegedly Far Cry 6, the announcement of which is very likely for July 12, when Ubisoft’s digital presentation will take place.
So, let’s say that Far Cry 6 will be probably released in 2021 on next-gen consoles and PC and the story will be set in a more exotic location. We will find out very soon.
