Did Resident Evil 3 Remake came out too fast?

Jill Valentine in Resident Evil 3 Remake

Resident Evil 3 is remake of the survival horror game originally released in 1999 that follows main protagonist Jill Valentine member of S.T.A.R.S and U.B.C.S. mercenary Carlos Oliveira as they trying to survive a zombie apocalypse and destroy the infected city full of zombies – Raccoon City.

We waited a long time for Capcom to announce the remake of Resident Evil 2, which ultimately lived up to all expectations and fans of the Resident Evil series were thrilled as they were once again able to go through all horror of Raccoon City 20 years after the original game came out. Shortly after Resident Evil 2 received all the positive reviews, the Resident Evil 3 Remake was announced and released on April 3, 2020 on Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

However, did Resident Evil 3 Remake came out too soon after RE2?

In my opinion, as a big fan of the Resident Evil series since childhood, although I was looking forward to the release of the game, I will say that Capcom should have waited with the launch of the game little longer. Graphically, Resident Evil 3 Remake looks beautiful, the gameplay is great, but it lacks so many good and essential parts of the game. Raccoon City police station, in my opinion is one of the main sections of the game, but Jill Valentine doesn’t even go through the police station, only Carlos Oliveira stays in the police station for a very short time. In general, the game story is too short in all parts of the game, many elements from the original story is missing, as well as many puzzles that need to be solved in order for protagonist Jill Valentine to continue her way to survival.

The game has no additional main or optional scenarios as well as downloadable contents, but in addition to story mode it also offers a seperate multiplayer mode Resident Evil: Resistance which puts a team of four players against a „mastermind“ who can create traps, enemies, and other hazards.

Nemesis, as the main enemy of Jill Valentine and other STARS members, is neither close hard as original, nor represents constant fear as in the case with Tyrant in RE2. After a few encounters, Nemesis turns into something that doesn’t fit the story from the original at all and Nemesis was one of the main segments of the original by which Resident Evil 3 is recognizable.

However, is Resident Evil 3 Remake worth buying?

Absolutely. Although the story is too short and only a few hours is needed to complete the game, Resident Evil 3 Remake offers a beautiful graphics experience, great gameplay, another zombie apocalypse survival horror and the fight against Umbrella Corporation one more time, which every Resident Evil fan likes, a great horror story and it’s definitely worth playing.
